Inaugurated on May 10, 2000, this monumental sculpture is 23.3 meters tall and weighs approximately 9 tons. Made of cement and fiberglass, the figure of Christ with outstretched arms symbolizes divine welcome and protection. Its design and construction were led by Father Antonio Mata Villegas from Panindícuaro, Michoacán, who was the main visionary behind the project. The statue has become a cultural and spiritual icon of the city, visible from various points and attracting both worshippers and tourists. It has also been illuminated on special occasions to convey messages of hope and faith to the community.
