The General Abelardo L. Rodríguez International Airport (IATA code: TIJ) is located in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico, very close to the United States border. Opened in 1951, it is a key point for connectivity between the two countries and the fourth busiest airport in Mexico. It is notable for the Cross Border Xpress (CBX), a pedestrian bridge that directly connects the airport with San Diego, facilitating quick border crossing. The airport has two terminals: Terminal 1 for domestic and international flights, and the Cross Border Terminal, located in the United States for CBX passengers. In 2022, a new building was opened to expand capacity and improve the traveler experience. Operated by Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico, the airport is a symbol of binational connection and an economic engine for the region.
